A one-person studio doesn't need a wall of mission statements — but it does need clear criteria. These four values decide which projects I take on, how I build them, and when I turn an offer down.
Independence as a working principle. No committee, no investor pressure, no compromises made out of convenience. I decide what gets built and when it is done — and carry the consequences myself. This freedom is not an end in itself: it keeps the focus on the product instead of on quarterly numbers.
Craft over a show of speed. What I ship is considered, tested and maintainable — even when no one is looking. Commitments that hold, clean execution, and an honest verdict when something does not work. Professionalism, to me, means not passing responsibility on to the next release.
I do not build for where things stand today, but for what AI will make possible in two years. Every project starts with a clear picture of how a market is shifting — and what place the product should take in it. Without that picture, development is just activity.
Technology is a means, not an end. A venture has to solve a real problem for real people, or it has no reason to exist. I choose projects by whether the world works a little better with them — not by how quickly they can be turned into revenue.
Freedom gives me the frame, professionalism the method, vision the direction — and purpose the reason to start at all.
